Life's Curve Balls

Do you ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go your way? Maybe you feel like that's how your week has been. Or maybe the last month or year. I often find people saying that "2016" or "2017" just wasn't their year. It often feels like when it rains it pours and you just cannot catch a break.
We expect life to be fair and when it isn't, it sends us into tail spins. We grasp at any straw available to find the fix to our problems. We desperately want to feel happy again and not live in pain, but sometimes this is what life brings. Real, unbearable pain.

Unfortunately, life's job is to throw us curve balls. Isn't this sucky? But we can choose every single day how we want to respond.

A famous quote that I love says:

"You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them."
-- Maya Angelou

So how will you respond to life's curve balls? Will you allow yourself to grieve, to be sad? Will you allow yourself the grace that you need during difficult times? Will you allow yourself to feel and not just shut down?

Sometimes we just want to shut off. It's easier this way. If we shut off, it often feels better because we don't feel that unbearable pain. But, then we let life win. We let the situation at hand have power over us to determine that we are not strong enough. But. We. ARE! YOU are!

Maybe you need support to fight off the bully that life sometimes becomes. There is strength in community. We are not meant to live this life alone. Reach out.

If you ever need a listening ear, someone to validate your feelings, or just someone that cares. I am here. Don't hesitate to reach out.

Now, go stand up to life and live your best life! Create the life that you want.
