You know those tapes that play over and over. The tapes that hold you back, that keep you from pursuing life? Do you feel like they ever get in the way? Do they hold you back from engaging in deeper relationships?
"I am not good enough"
"I don't deserve to be loved"
"I am not strong enough"
"I am out of control"
"I don't deserve anything good in life"
"I can do better, be better"
Do any of these sound familiar?
Does it feel like these tapes ever stop? They play over and over, like a song stuck on repeat.
Usually these tapes refer back to things in our past. Maybe someone told us these things, maybe an event happened that forever altered our reality of ourself.
However, we often don't realize the impact of these tapes, because they have been playing for a long, long time... they are normal to us. We don't know what it's like to live without them playing. Our reality has been looking at life through these lenses. These foggy lenses.
So what would it be like to live without them?? Is this a even possible?!
These tapes usually signify a core belief that we have about ourself, and what we would refer to as blocking beliefs. Ones that get in the way of us living life the way we want to. The way we wish we could. The ones that hold us back, that discourage us on a daily basis. That make us believe so little in ourself that we completely lose sight of who we truly are.
When you target this blocking belief, it can allow for clarity and resolution. It can get the tape unstuck and transform the tape into a new belief, one that you would like to believe. Doesn't this sound amazing? It is! Our brain is a powerful thing and once we get it moving and unstuck, it starts to bring about relief and resolution to a once gloomy and dark reality.
This is one of the things that I love about EMDR. It brings enlightenment to where these tapes began.
Imagine living a life where you could combat those beliefs as they come up. To gain skills that don't allow those beliefs to hold so much power in your life. To live a life where you believe in yourself and what you are capable of. To think positively of yourself. Believe you are worthy of love. You are good enough. You are strong enough. And empower you to feel like YOU are in charge of YOUR life!
To live a life that you don't have to hold back, and can truly be happy.
Do you have blocking beliefs that you would like to work through? Get those tapes moving and playing more positive information?
